Getting your cooking utensils organized is one of the quickest wins when organizing your kitchen. It requires minimal products and should take less than 30 minutes to complete.
- Separate your utensils by type and toss any that are bent, warped, splintered, or broken. Then ask yourself which utensils you reach for most frequently? Do you prefer your wooden spoon to your plastic one? Your silicone spatula to your metal one? Identify your favorite utensils and keep those. Donate the utensils you rarely use. A good rule of thumb is to keep only 1-3 utensils per category.
- Think about how you use the kitchen when you cook. Identify storage areas based on workflow. Are you right-handed or left-handed? Do you prefer to keep cooking utensils at arm’s reach or in a drawer? The three best places to store cooking utensils are on the counter, on the wall/under the cabinet, or in a drawer.
